There is ONE hard and fast rule you need to follow in order to protect the heart of your online business, the Domain Name.
(The Domain Name is the web site name, such as YourSite.com and includes the extension – dot com, dot net, dot whatever.) Think of the extension as similar to an Area Code in a phone number. While it doesn’t represent WHERE a domain is, it is an important part of the name, the same way the Area Code is an integral part of a phone number.
ALWAYS register your Domain Name YOURSELF. Do NOT depend on anyone else to do it for you! You need to control the Domain Name and access to its Registration.
